Action Comics #1 (June 1938) Superman’s Debut, CGC 9.0

Capture

Hello there comic book fans, I got an amazing spotlight for you today, something that is once in a blue moon event, the selling of thy most highly sought after comic book in history, Action Comics #1. This is the holy grail of comic collectors, something that every comic book collector cant have yet always dream of having and its up for auction on Ebay right now as of August 9, 2014. And with only 5 more days until the auction ends, if your a multimillionaire, then you better get started on bidding, man I’m dying to have this but currently at $1,950,100, it will only be a dream of mine to ever own a copy, hell, I doubt I’ll ever even get to see or touch a real copy in my lifetime.

$_57

This is THE comic book that started it all. This comic features not only the first appearance of Superman, Clark Kent and Lois Lane, but this comic began the entire superhero genre that has followed during the 76 years since. It is referred to as the Holy Grail of comics and this is the finest graded copy to exist with perfect white pages. This is …. the Mona Lisa of comics and stands alone as the most valuable comic book ever printed.

This particular copy is the nicest that has ever been graded, with an ASTONISHING grade of CGC 9.0 ! To date, no copies have been graded higher and only one other copy has received the same grade. It is fair to say though that this copy blows the other 9.0 out of the water. Compared to the other 9.0 that sold for $2.1million several years ago it has significant superior eye appeal, extremely vibrant colors and PERFECT WHITE PAGES. This means after 76 years the aging process has yet to begin. Truly this book is a museum piece. It is one of only two copies of this comic in ANY condition to ever be graded with the distinction of having White pages, the other being a CGC 2.5 !

If you are looking to purchase or invest in comic books this is without exaggeration the single best graded comic book that exists. It is the highest graded copy of the most sought after comic book in the hobby, and has the best possible page quality that can be assigned.  If anyone has ever been curious what an Action Comics 1 looked like the day it came off of the newsstand 75 years ago, this is the answer.

$_58

Even if you can’t buy this amazing comic book, at least you can witness history here, comic book history, watching the sell of thy most expensive, most coveted comic book in history and the highest graded copy, this will definitely be a once in a geek’s lifetime event. Again this auction ends Aug 24, 2014 18:00:02 PDT, so don’t miss out on either watching this amazing auctioning event, or if your rich, bidding on this amazing comic book. I will definitely update with the winning bid when this auction ends, because it will no doubt be a historic number in comic book purchases.

Update: Well here the update folks, Action Comics #1 CGC 9.0 has set a record for the highest payed amount for a comic book, the record setting figure is $3,207,852.00, a comic book historic event.

Movie Spotlight!: Big Hero 6 Cast

Sans titre11125 - Copie - Copie

Hello there, comic book and movie fans, today I got the latest news on Disney’s Big Hero 6, where they have announced the full main voice cast for Big Hero 6, an animated adaptation of a Marvel comic that separate from the bigger live action Marvel cinematic universe. The film will feature Ryan Potter as Hiro Hamada; Scott Adsit as Baymax; T.J. Miller as Fred; Jamie Chung as Go Go Tomago; Damon Wayans Jr. as Wasabi; Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon; Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass; James Cromwell as Professor Callaghan; Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei; and Daniel Henney as Tadashi Hamada.

Big Hero 6 was created for Marvel by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau and focuses on Hiro Hamada and his robot Baymax as they team with other heroes to save San Fransokyo. The movie is directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, is set to debut November 7th. And if you like what you see and read then please, share, like, and comment, help us spread the loving.

BIG HERO 6

“BIG HERO 6″ Robotics prodigy HIRO HAMADA has the mind of a genius—and the heart of a 14-year-old: his state-of-the-art battle-bots dominate the underground bot fights held in the dark corners of San Fransokyo. Fortunately, big brother Tadashi redirects Hiro’s brilliance, inspiring him to put his brain to the test in a quest to gain admission to the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. When a tragic event changes everything, Hiro turns to a robot named Baymax, and they form an unbreakable bond—and two-sixths of a band of high-tech heroes on a very important mission. ©2014 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

BIG HERO 6

“BIG HERO 6″ BAYMAX cares. That’s what he was designed to do. The plus-sized inflatable robot’s job title is technically Healthcare Companion: With a simple scan, Baymax can detect vital stats, and, given a patient’s level of pain, can treat nearly any ailment. Conceived and built by Tadashi Hamada, Baymax just might revolutionize the healthcare industry. But to the inventor’s kid brother Hiro, the nurturing, guileless bot turns out to be more than what he was built for—he’s a hero, and quite possibly Hiro’s closest friend. And after some deft reprogramming that includes a rocket fist, super strength and rocket thrusters that allow him to fly, Baymax becomes one of the “Big Hero 6.” ©2014 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

BIG HERO 6

“BIG HERO 6″ It’s elemental when it comes to chemistry whiz HONEY LEMON. Don’t let her glasses and funky fashion fool you: Honey may be as sweet as her namesake, but she has a fire in her belly and a can-do attitude that make her pretty much unstoppable. Her knowledge of alchemy proves powerful, too, when the effusive brainiac becomes part of the “Big Hero 6” and creates clever concoctions that when thrown, can get her team out of nearly any jam. ©2014 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

BIG HERO 6

“BIG HERO 6″ WASABI is committed to precision. He’s super smart and just a touch neurotic, but the big and burly neatnik can’t help but join the cause when Hiro needs him most. As part of “Big Hero 6,” Wasabi amplifies his martial arts skills with jaw-dropping plasma blade weaponry. Sharp doesn’t even begin to describe this guy. ©2014 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

BIG HERO 6

“BIG HERO 6″ Aptly named GO GO TOMAGO knows what it takes to be fast. She’s tough, athletic and loyal to the bone, but not much of a conversationalist. Popping bubble gum and delivering well-placed sarcasm are totally her speed. The daredevil adrenaline junkie is at her best on wheels, and when Go Go joins forces with “Big Hero 6,” she rolls like never before, using maglev discs as wheels, shields and throwing weapons. ©2014 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

BIG HERO 6

“BIG HERO 6″ Fanboy FRED comes off like a laid-back dude with no direction. But this sign-twirling, monster-loving, comic-book aficionado is sure to go places—when he’s good and ready. For example, Fred doesn’t hesitate to join “Big Hero 6,” and he has a lot of ideas for his super-hero skillset, too. His ferocious, fire-breathing alter ego comes complete with claws, integrated communications and a super bounce. But his sign-spinning may still come in handy. ©2014 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

May is Asian Heritage Month

Wow I didn’t even know that Asian people had a month lol, weird how Asian Heritage Month has never been mention or promoted in my life, never seen media coverage or even other Asian people let alone other races talk about it. If I didn’t pass by this great post by Lora Quitane (be sure to check her out) I never would had known, and now I’m glad that I do know about it now. We deserve to be recognized like other races in the western world, our stories and culture need to be told and learn about too. But it is kinda sad that like I said before Asian Heritage Month is practically known to very few people in society and I’m kinda doubting that that will ever change, sadly Asians are a forgettable race in the US, very little coverage or attention of any kind to the Asian race in the US. Also, what does this month even represent, events like February’s Black History month pretty all around the is talk about it, on the media and other sources. People actually make it a effort to get the knowledge of Black history and life to the people, but sadly I feel that this Asian Heritage Month event is nothing important or noticeable except to the very few Asian people. Sad but hopefully one day it will change, that one day Asians are recognized like other races.

Lora Quitane

Asian Heritage

It’s Asian Heritage Month in Canada. In the U.S., it’s called Asia Pacific Heritage Month.

From my quick research (aka the Internet), I discovered that there is not a lot of information and media coverage on this celebration, especially in Canada. Or at least where I live.

In Manitoba, the Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba has a list of activities and events to commemorate this month. So does VancouverOttawa, Calgary, and Toronto. But, despite these events and activities, they’re not enough.

They’re not enough because there’s not a lot of buzz and talk about it. Some Filipinos that I know have no idea that it’s their month. And it’s sad because it should be celebrated to recognize Asians in Canada. The more people talk about it, the more people are more open-minded with the Asian culture. That there is more to us Asians.

Ben Affleck As The New Batman!

BncsTOSCYAAl99e

Hello there comic book and movie fans, Tuesday on Twitter, director Zack Snyder, continuing with his earlier full reveal of the 2016 “Man of Steel” sequel’s Batmobile, he also presents to us the very first look at Ben Affleck as the film’s Batman. In his tweet, Snyder clarified he took the photo with his own still camera:

snyder-full-d4a5d

batfleck-compare-f4eb0

A closeup and lighten shoot tells us much more about the details of the new Batman look, the short ears and wide Bat-symbol on the chest is definitely a take on the Batsuit from Frank Miller’s classic 1986 DC Comics story “The Dark Knight Returns,” which also featured a climactic battle between Batman and Superman. When ask if Frank Millers story will be the basis for the new movie, Snyder said, “We’re not adapting this thing, but it will help us tell you something.” Batman is set to appear in the new Superman still-untitled sequel — commonly referred to as “Batman vs. Superman” — is set for release on May 6, 2016, and, along with Affleck, will star Henry Cavill (reprising his role as Superman from 2013’s “Man of Steel”), Gal Gadot (the first big-screen live-action Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Jeremy Irons (Alfred), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg/Victor Stone).

Wolverine Turns Villian? A New Wolverine #1 From Paul Cornell And Ryan Stegman

wolverine

Hey there comic book fans, here is the latest news on my favorite comic book character, at the end of Killable, the current Wolverine arc, the title will relaunch with Paul Cornell and Ryan Stegman, and is setup as Wolverine being a bad guy. Interesting, I have been hoping for more new takes on the character, although its nothing new to see Wolverine as a bad guy, I just hope Cornell does it justice and give it some originality, here some info about the new arc from Paul Cornell:

The first arc is called “Payback,” and that’s where we find him: working for a crime boss called The Offer, alongside a “family” of low-rent super villains. Following the end of “Killable,” he’s decided to simplify his life and drop his responsibilities.

The Offer is a minor super villain gang boss who has the power to make the best possible offer. It’s not hypnotism; you’re free to turn him down. But his offers tend to make people think twice. He’s a caring, fatherly presence to his gang, but he’s not really a good man.

His gang includes Pinch, who Logan is in a relationship with, who can pull threads from any material; Fuel, who increases powers, and thus can make Logan move at high speed; and the Lost Boy, who can make anything ignite, and who has a complicated attitude towards what heroism and villainy might be. Logan worries about him.”

This month’s new releases on Amazon include Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira: 25th Anniversary Edition (Funimation, “R,” 124 min., BD/DVD Combo $34.95, then was mark down even more to $24.99).  This classic looks spectacular in Blu-ray and also, Funimation has returned the film to its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio—the previous Blu-ray release of Akira was slightly window boxed.  The colors in the Funimation release also appear to be more saturated, though it should be noted that both versions are not as sharp and hard-edged as BD versions of contemporary computer animated features simply because of the hand drawn (and painted) nature of the animation in Akira.  The soundtrack on the new Funimation Akira Blu-ray represents a major advance over previous DVD releases. The 25th Anniversary release of Akira features both English dubs that have occurred since 1988, and there also tons of extra, with over 120 minutes of on-disc extra features; including the “Restoring Akira” documentary, interview with the Japanese Director and original storyboards for the anime.

And out on November 19, 2013 is Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece: Strong World (Funimation, Not Rated,  113 min., BD/DVD Combo $34.98, then was mark down even more to $31.48). As extra goes there seems to be only behind the scenes of One Piece: Introducing Brook, so there really isn’t much to the BD/DVD, but I’m showcasing this because of the extras, for lovers of One Piece this will be a great addition to one’s collection, we get anopther amazing tale from the One Piece crew.

The synopsis is “When the Straw Hats catch wind of trouble in the peaceful waters of the East Blue, they quickly set a course for home! But before they reach their destination, fate leads them into the deadly path of Golden Lion Shiki. This gravity-defying madman needs a navigator, and he wants Nami! Shiki scatters the Straw Hats across the far corners of a floating island filled with ferocious, genetically-mutated monsters, and issues Nami and ultimatum: join his crew – or her friends die! BIG mistake. Luffy kicks his attack mode into Third Gear and begins a brutal rampage across the beast-ridden island. It’s all hands on deck – including a new character – for this watershed adventure in the One Piece canon. Monkey vs. Lion. Winner gets the navigator”

iZombie’ and Other DC Comics TV Show

The CW is in the process of making a new series based on DC’s iZombie, which will be written by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas and Veronica Mars movie co-writer Diane Ruggiero, according to Deadline. Thomas and Ruggiero will pen the series based on characters created for Chris Roberson and Michael Allred’s Eisner Award nominated comic from DC’s Vertigo imprint, which ended abruptly in August 2012 when Roberson left DC.

iZombie will be presented as “a supernatural crime procedural that centers on a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity.  But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.”

iZombie is joining several other DC related titles on the CW development list, another is Hourman, according to Hollywood Reporter.  Mcihael Caleo, who wrote the pilot for the Ironside and screenplay for The Family, will write Hourman and executive produce.  Also executive producing will be Daniel Lin (of Ninjago) and Jennifer Gwartz, also of Lin Pictures. Hourman is a character that can generally gain superpowers for an hour and/or see events one hour in the future.

Also on that list is the Flash spinoff from Arrow, Gotham that is in development at Fox, and Constantine at NBC, DC is planning for big things in there TV world.
