Comic Book Review!: All New X-Men #3

c1

Hello my fellow comic book lovers, today’s review is All New X-Men #3, written by Brian Michael Bendis, with art by Stuart Immonen, colorist Marte Gracia and inker Wade Von Grawbadger, and publishes by Marvel Comics.

In my last review I was asking for something more from All New X-Men, something that would keep me interested in the title, and boy did this issue deliver. In this issue we get to see was has been going on with Cyclops and his small band of X-Men, seeing how the days of AVX has affected them and their status quo. For Cyclops and his band of X-Men, which include Emma Frost, Magneto, and Magik, their powers have been altered and their emotions stretched thin. Bendis has created a truly interesting

take on Cyclops, with him being presented as the new Magneto of this generation, carrying on Magneto’s old plans of starting a mutant revolution. Bendis even makes it known that that is what it is, with Magneto telling Cyclops to stop blaming his recent actions on the Phoenix, that it is him who decided his own actions. Which in turn marked a new chapter in Cyclops’ life, turning the boring Boy Scout into an interesting multidimensional character.

Like I have said before Stuart Immonen’s artwork is incredible, a definite treat for the eyes, again, amazing details in character and background, interesting character poses and readable expression of emotions. I love the look of Cyclops’ altered powers, and the ending splash page is amazing, and contributing to the quality of the art is the great colors of Marte Gracia, and the heavy ink work of Wade Von Grawbadger. Marte color work definitely shines when companied by Wade’s heavy inking, giving more life and flash to the artwork, perfect example is the slash page ending.

I definitely love this take on Cyclops, and very interested in the showcase of new or modified mutant powers. Bendis continues with his good natural dialogue, and Stuart, Marte and Wade have blown the artwork out of the water with this issue. I’m definitely looking forward to future issues, so this was a “Definite Buy,” and I hope that future issues only get stronger.

My Take:

Definite Buy
